What Is a Sectional Door?
A sectional door is a door system whose horizontal panels are hinged together and slide upward in side tracks. When open, the panels park horizontally under the ceiling, vertically above the opening or parallel to the roof, so no space is lost in front of or behind the door.
Sectional doors keep out draughts, moisture, dust and noise and are easily adapted to the building. We supply industrial sectional doors, garage doors and full vision (glazed) sectional doors in project-specific sizes.

How Does a Sectional Door Work?
Horizontal panels hinged together form a flexible door leaf guided in side tracks. Torsion springs balance the door weight; the motor or chain only starts the movement.
An opening command is given (button, remote control or chain).
Torsion springs balance the weight; the motor turns the shaft and winds cables onto drums.
Panels travel vertically then horizontally in the tracks and park under the ceiling.
When closing, the bottom-edge safety system reverses the door if it detects an obstacle.
How to Choose the Right Sectional Door
- Define the application: industrial, residential garage or showroom.
- Measure opening, headroom and side room.
- Choose panel thickness according to insulation needs.
- Select motor and spring life for daily cycles.
- Plan windows, wicket door and colour from the start.
Maintenance & Service Tips
- Inspect springs, cables, hinges and rollers every 6–12 months.
- Lubricate hinge and roller bearings with suitable oil.
- Check sealing gaskets for wear.
- Test safety devices (photocell, bottom edge) regularly.

Sectional Door – Frequently Asked Questions
How does a sectional door work?
Hinged horizontal panels slide upward in side tracks and park under the ceiling or vertically against the wall. Motorised models are operated by remote, button or key; manual models by chain or by hand.
What is the difference between a sectional door and a roller shutter?
A sectional door consists of wide insulated panels and opens parallel to the ceiling with high insulation. A roller shutter coils its slats in a box above the opening and suits limited ceiling space.
Where are sectional doors used?
Industrial models at factories, warehouses and car parks; garage models at villas, sites and public buildings; full vision models at showrooms and service entrances.
Can a sectional door be opened during a power cut?
Yes. Motorised sectional doors can be released and opened by hand or with a chain hoist.
Can a wicket door be added?
Yes. A pedestrian wicket door can be integrated into the panels, or a separate side door installed in a fixed panel for wide doors.
Are other colours available?
Yes. Besides standard white (RAL 9002), panels can be supplied in other RAL colours to match the façade.
How often should springs be replaced?
Spring life depends on the number of cycles. Regular inspection and timely replacement are essential for safe use on high-cycle doors.
Can a sectional door be operated manually?
Yes. Light doors can be opened by hand and large industrial doors with a chain hoist.
