What Is a Self-Repairing Door?
A self-repairing door (zipper fabric door) is a high-speed PVC door whose curtain is held in special side columns by zip edges. In a strong impact the curtain fully disengages from the side columns and the door automatically re-inserts it into the guides — operations continue without calling service.
Since no metal bars or spare parts are used in the curtain, impacts cause no injuries, and bending or breaking in high wind does not occur. See all models on our high-speed PVC door page.

How Does a Self-Repairing Door Work?
The zip on both curtain edges runs inside a channel in the side columns. On impact the zip leaves the channel; at the next cycle the door automatically guides the curtain back in.
A sensor or button opens the door; the zipper curtain rolls up in the channels.
After passage the door closes automatically.
If a forklift or vehicle hits it, the curtain leaves the channels without damaging the door.
On the next open–close cycle the curtain re-inserts itself.
How to Choose the Right Self-Repairing Door
- Consider this model first for internal openings with high impact risk.
- Have the opening width and height measured.
- Choose sensors for the traffic (radar, induction loop).
- Request a clear vision band.
- Specify curtain material for hygiene areas.
Maintenance & Service Tips
- Keep zipper channels free of dust and dirt.
- Clean the curtain with neutral detergent.
- Test sensors and photocells regularly.
- Have motor and panel checked during maintenance.

Self-Repairing Door – Frequently Asked Questions
How does a self-repairing door work?
The zip on the curtain edges runs in the side columns. In a strong impact the curtain leaves the columns and the door automatically re-inserts it — no service needed.
Is the door damaged on impact?
No. Its special columns prevent damage and the curtain has no metal bars or spare parts that could bend or break.
Is it safe?
Yes. With no rigid bars in the curtain, collisions do not injure staff or damage vehicles.
How does it behave in wind?
Without a bar system, bending or breaking does not occur under extreme wind pressure.
Which sectors is it for?
Logistics, warehousing, food, automotive and production facilities — any area with high impact risk.
Can it be used externally?
It is resistant to high wind pressure; wind load is assessed per project for external use.
What opening sizes are possible?
It suits common internal opening sizes; exact suitability is confirmed per project.
